Uncle Dave's Box

Key Responsibilities:
Design From Concept, Low/High Poly Modeling, Design of Substance Painter Substances (Besides Wood which was provided by RWS), Texture Creation, Lighting, Rendering, UV Mapping, Baking, Editing Final Render, ect.

This was such a neat piece to work on. This was the largest piece I did during my time with Running with Scissors. We had two versions of the texture, the lighter one ended up winning out.

The piece was started in Maya 2019, the base model was created and duplicated to make the high resolution, This HR was completed and finalized in ZBrush with most of the major details minus the wooden planks that would be created using a series of height fills in Substance Painter. The piece was baked in Substance Painter using its "Bake by Mesh Name" Feature, something that I often use on pieces with interior objects. I textured the object using a mixture of default smart materials, materials provided by RSW and materials of my own creation such as the glass and streamers. I created brushes that simulated smeared/dripping paint out of the default particle tool and used it to the create graffiti seen on the sides. and was rendered in the IRAY renderer.

The piece took around 40 hours to complete.
